Mamas with Voices is a fun, friendly and funky choir for local mums. It’s a chance to meet new people, get creative and enjoy music.

We have had an amazing first year since forming last September 2016, with public performances including the St Albans X’mas Market, Christopher Place and the wonderful Meraki festival in August. The ladies, some of whom had never sung before joining us, have all formed a wonderful crew with plenty of laughs and new friendships.

We are cracking on with some new repertoire this Autumn and our members are increasing which is giving us a great, big, Mama sound.

Led by local mum and professional jazz-soul singer, songwriter and Ronnie Scotts’ regular, Anjali Perin, MWV is a fresh take on the choir format drawing on influences from across jazz, gospel, soul and pop and adapting unusual tunes that will even make some of our teenagers smile… images

All abilities are welcome.  All we ask is that you come with an open mind and are able to come regularly – we understand life with kids means some flexibility but we also can’t run the sessions if we don’t have a minimum number of singers.  Singing is known and proven to be a feel good activity and has many mental and physical health benefits. It is a perfect stress reliever for busy Mums – see the ‘Benefits of singing’ page.

So ditch the hairbrush mic or shower head and come and sing for real with us at MWV!

 When?

Sessions will run on Wednesday evenings in term time from 7.45-9.45pm (pub visit after is optional but highly recommended).

Start date: Wednesday Sept 13th, 2017.

£6.50 per session for regular attendees, payable on half termly increments. Otherwise we have a drop-in rate which is £8.50.

Regular attendees pay upfront for each half term set of sessions, on the basis that they can make the weeks they have paid for. We do not freeze payments for any last minute absences, as we simply cannot sustain our running costs on that basis. If you know in advance BEFORE you pay your half term fee, that you will be away on certain dates, then we can adjust the amount owing and you can still use the regular rate to cover the sessions you can attend. Term dates: we rehearse in term time only, except where we may have an upcoming performance, but these will be advised if applicable.

{Half term – week commencing October 23rd so NO session on Wednesday October 25th}

November: 1st/8th/15th/22nd/29th
